Area Engineering Manager

About our opportunity:

We are offering the opportunity for a skilled Area Engineering Manager to join EMR to manage all aspects of engineering and maintenance activities for the plant and equipment across the region.

What you will be doing:

  • Implement Engineering H&S across practices across the area, working closely with the H&S coordinator
  • Build an “in house” Engineering and Maintenance team across the Midlands & South West 
  • Achieve an equipment availability of 95%
  • Analyse maintenance costs and produce a plan to reduce by 10%
  •  Develop a detailed set of  maintenance tasks for each piece of model specific equipment both process and mobile
  •  Develop EMR policy for delivery of periodic maintenance as appropriate to the task and available resources and skills:
  • EMR employees
  • Outside Contractors
  • Evaluate the skills requirements to execute the maintenance tasks  and create a skills matrix to identify upskilling of employees
  • Create a management process and develop an annual capital replacement plan
  • Create local on-site controlled tool stores (as appropriate) for the delivery of daily and periodic maintenance. Ensure this is delivered to good standards of 5S and housekeeping
  • Create bespoke critical spare parts controls (identification, order and storage) for all plant and equipment on site at Depots under their management. For spare parts identify:
  • Primary Supply Route, Lead-time, Cost
  • Secondary Supply Route, Lead-time, Cost
  • Min/Max inventory levels
  • Spares Storage and labelling
  • Visual inventory Tracking
  • Develop a process to schedule and manage major overhaul to fixed plant
  • Develop a process to manage the performance of contractors and works approval
  • Carry-out equipment performance analysis to identify and understand performance shortfall and make recommendations for corrective actions
  • Act as the key interface for maintenance elements of the MS Dynamics programme
  • Lead all civil remedial work and fabric repairs or upgrades

About you:

  • Degree Qualified  in a related engineering discipline e.g. mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Experience of managing a budget and operational costs
  • Experience in the specification, purchase and maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Understanding of the economic life cycle of equipment and planning replacement
  • Experience of third party maintenance facilities and maintenance capabilities in the supply chain
  • Be IT literate and experienced (MS Office, planning)
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and to work with a cross section of individuals
  • The ability to solve problems and complete investigations
  • Able to provide support and leadership to team and the wider EMR organisation
  • Nebosh ideally/  Minimum  IOSH Managing Safely

 

Flexible to travel around the south of England  and overnight stays will be part of the role,  work extended hours as necessary to perform the role
