The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate previous experience of working as a plant fitter as well as possess good knowledge and understanding of mobile plant machinery and equipment. Ideally you will be apprentice trained in construction/agricultural plant maintenance or be a time served mechanical fitter. You must be able to have excellent communication skills and work well on your own initiative.  

Working hours evening shift -  Monday – Friday. The ideal candidate must be able to work unsociable hours and weekends where needed.

What you will be doing:

  • Monitor, fault find, maintain and repair a wide variety of equipment including Hydraulic power pack units, pumps, gearboxes, conveyor systems and specialist treatment process machinery.
  • Making regular checks on machinery according to a planned schedule
  • Regular maintenance work such as oiling and cleaning
  • Replacing parts on a planned basis after a certain number of hours
  • Checking and calibrating equipment to make sure it is accurate
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive service and maintenance records
  • Identifying and capturing machine damage, investigating and documenting, as appropriate
  • Investigating, diagnosing and repairing machine faults
  • Fixing faults promptly
  • Using in-depth knowledge of the machinery to diagnose faults
  • Being available for urgent calls at all times, including weekends
  • The ability to investigate and diagnose technical faults and take ownership to resolve problems.
  • Competent with hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • The ability to work to high standards, with an attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to build good working relationships with plant operators, site personnel and customers.
  • General knowledge of processing plants standards and safety procedures
  • The ability to use their initiative and work well with others.
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Reading and interpreting project plans
  • Coordinating with the labour crew for efficient installations
  • Performing MIG, TIG and other types of welding methods depending on the project.
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

About you:

  • Recognised apprenticeship preferably a higher-level standard.
  • Ideally candidates would have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with, repairing and servicing Heavy Plant and Machinery this exciting opportunity might be for you.
  • Working independently you will be expected to manage your time and workload.
  • You will be required to possess a full driving license and you will receive a company van to enable you to reach the sites our clients will require you to attend.
  • This is an exciting and varied opportunity with an established plant servicing business.
