About our opportunity:

To work as part of the Engineering and Maintenance Team to ensure that selected engineering projects / improvements are carried out in a timely, efficient manner using best practices to deliver the project(s) safely, on time and within budget constraints. Assist Maintenance Manager with repairs and plant requirements.

What you will be doing:

  • Delivery of plant critical and strategic engineering projects.
  • To ensure that the site and team comply with all applicable H&S and Engineering based legislation and company rules.
  • Assist the Engineering and Maintenance Manager with responsibility for engineering / maintenance activities on-site including but not limited to: Projects, purchasing, installation, commissioning, fault finding and maintenance.
  • Ensure that the plant is running at an optimum level, minimising downtown and achieving all internal maintenance demands.
  • Highlight in a timely fashion any delays or long lead time spares requests.
  • Create purchase requisitions and track new spare parts orders.
  • To communicate effectively and accurately any information about stock requirements and usage to the Engineering Stores Person / Maintenance Shift Supervisor or Engineering and Maintenance Manager where applicable.
  • To monitor maintenance works, and routinely conduct appropriate checks on machinery / equipment by follow up audits.
  • Compilation of any reports in relation to work undertaken including but not limited to: Fault Repairs, PPM, Overtime, Lost Time Reports, Breakdown Reports and expenditure.
  • Ensure that all machinery and equipment is used of a safe standard, and any malfunctions / missing components are immediately reported / actioned.
  • Participation in shift briefings and Management meetings where required.
  • Working with the Operations team to support continuous improvement.
  • Deputise when required during the absence of the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, taking overall responsibility for Engineering and Maintenance on site, in liaison with the Operations Manager.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Good communication skills
  • Driven to deliver targets
  • Proactive and reactive approach to plant repairs
  • Completion of work arising from daily action lists to agreed time and priority
  • Manage PPM’s to achieve 100% completion each week
  • To work with external contractors to achieve effective and efficient maintenance and service of machinery when required, including the issuing of any permit to work as required by company procedures
  • Willingness & flexibility to perform other tasks and duties that are not ‘usually’ performed day to day, required for business reasons
  • Where requested, represent the Company off site and attend suppliers, customers or trials as and when required

Desirable

  • Ability to read Engineering drawings (Mechanical / Electrical)
  • Understand Process Flow diagrams and have the ability to create them
  • Understand and be able to create Bills of Materials
  • Willing to consider working reasonable overtime as requested to meet with the demands of the business
